Bec and Wes inspired us to try something else besides cereal and so we ventured onward in the world of solid foods to try bananas. Zachary loves them! He's his daddy's boy and is enjoying the sweetness of his new food. He gets so amped for the next bite that he holds his arms out and shakes excitedly :) Veggies to follow next week!
This is a short little video showing Zach in action. As you will see he is working on being able to sit on his own, but just doesn't quite have it mastered yet!
It seems that I can barely keep up with this little guy!! It was just yesterday (or so it seems) that Zachary was 4 months old and now today he is already 5 months old. I am with Zach every day so I don't notice little things as much as those who only see him once in a while. I am, however, noticing that he is much more alert and his attention span for things is greater. We were "people watching" at the mall on Saturday and he followed people with his eyes and head until they were no longer in view. He most definitely knows his own name and will turn towards you if you call him by it. He laughs out loud at more things as well, like something he sees on a cartoon or when Aria meows and rubs her face against him. Luckily Aria tolerates Zach petting her (aka pulling on her fur) and trying to eat her ears. She just purrs and sits there lovingly, they are going to be great buddies for sure :) I have yet to catch a picture with the 2 of them though, but I'll keep working on it! Zach got prepared for the summer season of swimming pools and vacations at the lake by going swimming for the first time! He looked slightly confused as we entered the water, but he was soon splish splashin like a pro. The only snaffu was that he kept trying to get the water in his mouth so we ended up doing very little belly swimming. Zachy and Mommy are planning on taking a swim class at the YMCA next month where he'll continue his aquatic adventures :)
The term growing like a weed is certainly appropriate for our Zachary! At 4 months he is now a strapping 16 lbs 11 oz and 26 inches long. He shot up from 50 to 85% for height and remains in the 90's for weight! He's a smiley, happy guy and he loves socializing and playing. Zach's big landmark for this his 4 month birthday is his first time eating cereal. He seemed a little unsure at first but then caught on quickly. He loves cereal time and smiles all the way through the feeding. Bad mommy! It's been quite a while since my last post, but we have been a very busy Greene family! We decided last minute to take a little trip to Florida from March 2 - March 9th. Grammy knew we were coming to visit, but Poppy and Mamere did not so it was a fun event to suprise them at the school where they both work. It was crazy traveling with an infant but Zach is such a good baby that it was (mainly) a breeze and a nice vacation in the warm sun :) He experienced alot of firsts on this trip and here are just some of the pictures of the highlights. First time on an airplane! As you can see he was rather unfazed. We had a layover on the way down and back but he slept through all 4 flights with no problems at all...Whew!!
First stay in a hotel! Here he is relaxing in bed and watching a little Sports Center on T.V. - a boy after his dad's own heart :)
First time meeting Grammy! Zach enjoyed spending time at Grammy's house. He was especially fond of staring at the tree behind Grammy's chair that has Josh's Christmas ornaments and lights on it.
First time visiting Uncle Josh! Zach's middle name is in honor of his uncle and it was a special time bringing him to visit.
First time at the beach! We lucked out with a beautiful sunny day in the midst of some rainy ones so we headed off to the beach with Poppy and Mamere.
First time with his feet in the ocean! Zach seemed to like digging his toes into the cool sand and feeling the water come up on his little feet. He also thought he was toooo cool in his first pair of sunglasses.
...months old that is! I know I'm a little late in posting this as he was officially 2 months old on 2/13, but better late than never. At his 2 month check-up the doctor said he is doing perfect and that developmentally he is super smart (but we already knew that!). He is now a strapping 13 lbs 1 oz and is 23" long...about middle of the charts for height, but 80% for weight. I wasn't kidding when I said he wants to eat all the time :) He also had an exciting Valentines Day date with his Great Grandma Maas going out for Chinese Buffet but unfortunately I don't have the picture of that yet. Here is Zach in one of his big boy outfits after church today. His first time wearing shoes!! The other one is just a cute picture from when he was playing on his ball with Grandma Geri.
